George Pyne, London, 1907

George Pyne, also a violinist, was a maker of much popularity with musicians in late 19th and early 20th century London.

Showing natural ability from an early age, he began to make instruments mainly for his fellow orchestra members. His reputation for quality instruments at affordable prices quickly grew, and before long he had a waiting list of prospective customers.

Staunchly patriotic, Pyne refused the allure of labeling or antiquing his instruments to look like older Italian instruments in favor of espousing a more modern English ideal.

This violin offers great tone and clarity and like other English instruments, represents an especially good value in today’s market.
