Claude Augustin Miremont, Paris, c.1860

Claude Augustin Miremont was one of the most highly regarded Parisian makers of the mid 19th century. He spent some time working for the likes of Mezin, Lafleur, and Bernardel before relocating to New York for the better part of a decade.

Once he returned to Paris, he was known to be an unrestrained self-promoter, and this violin, modeled after Stradivari, speaks well of his reputation with its bold, convincing tone—much like we have found in other Miremont instruments we have offered.
