Charles Claude Francois Darche, Brussels, 1867

Charles Claude Francois Darche was born in Mirecourt, France, but established himself in Brussels, studying with Nicolas Vuillaume before opening his own workshop. He became a highly sought after restorer, most famously completing a lengthy restoration of an Andrea Amati cello once owned by Charles II of France.

The viola we offer is of modest proportions, perfect for the professional player or conservatory student who requires a comfortably-sized instrument coupled with a full and projecting viola sound.
