C.K. August, Boston, 1895 “no. 9″

It is always exciting to find quality instruments from little known American makers like C.K. August. Although we don’t know much about him, around the turn of the 20th century it seems he was part of the violin-making community in Boston, which was a center of high-level violin making in the United States at that time.

This example is a faithful Stradivari copy of high quality made from especially picturesque American maple. A player who appreciates a mature sound would be well served by this violin.
